Explanation and Summary
As described by Dr. Jarowski: "... There are several important reasons why supplementation with GlycoTrol for the purpose of improving the quality of dietary proteins should be considered.
(1) The composition of 60 commonly-consumed proteins reveals that the four Essential Amino Acids in GlycoTrol are most likely to be limiting or deficient. This fact has several important ramifications. First, when dietary proteins are consumed, their amino acids are not fully utilized when one or more of the Essential Amino Acids is in short supply. These un-utilized amino acids (with the exception of threonine and histidine) are typically broken down prior to excretion in the urine. In fact, eighteen of the 20+ amino acids are converted to glucose if they are present in excess. Only leucine and lysine are not converted to glucose. Second, when such conversions occur, the amino groups of the amino acids as well as other nitrogen atoms are enzymatically stripped and ultimately converted to undesirable metabolites such as ammonia, urea and uric acid. Such metabolites could prove to be toxic in individuals with poorly functioning kidneys.
(2) If the concentrations of blood glucose from the breakdown of carbohydrates and un-utilized amino acids are too high for too long, the danger exists that the glucose will combine with hemoglobin molecules that are in red blood cells to form Hemoglobin A1c. Once the Hemoglobin A1c molecules are formed, they remain in the blood circulation for extended periods of time . up to 120 days. Hemoglobin A1c molecules have been demonstrated to damage the eyes and kidneys.
